Places to eat or drink in the neighbourhood:
www.decantine.nl
Because of the honest kitchen, nice meals, pleasant personnel (which is not a thing to take for granted in Amsterdam…!).
www.kompaszaal.nl
A historical place on the KNSM island. This is still the old building from the time the KNSM wharf was here and ships were leaving for the east (or “Levant”). Nice views, especially to see the sun go down. It’s located on the first floor with a nice terrace. On the ground floor is a small exhibition with pictures from this area, now and then. They serve high tea between 13.00 and 16.00 hrs.
www.roosennoor.nl
Take away catering (meals) Roos & Noor, healthy and fresh every day. They have a micro way oven where you can heat your meals. Very nice food. Open Monday till Friday  from 16.00 till 21.00. Saturday and Sunday from 15.00 till 20.00.
www.helenaprimakoff.nl
For coffee, tea, sandwiches and cakes. Soup sometimes.
Ingrid, the owner, made this a very personal hotspot and prepared the road for several more nice small shops in this street, as the Ethiopian coffee seller, a gallery, hairdresser, an Italian caterer and more to come. for coffee, tea, sandwiches and cakes. Soup sometimes.
Ingrid, the owner, made this a very personal hotspot and prepared the road for several more nice small shops in this street, as the Ethiopian coffee seller, a gallery, hairdresser, an Italian caterer and more to come. Here you can have a more extended breakfast. Eggs the way you want them done, orange juice, yoghurt, muesli, she’s got it all.

(just a few tips, there a so many nice restaurants in Amsterdam, please ask us if you have a special request)
www.jo-sushi.nl
Because his sushi are the freshest and best in town, and because he’s a very nice guy. In the “Jordaan” area.
www.burgermeester.eu
For the best hamburgers in the world, if you ask us. Not only the ‘normal’ beefburger, but also numerous others, like Salmon burger, Vegetarian versions, etc. Plus, they are very strict in wanting to know where the ingredients they use come from. Fairer than fair.
Cafe Bern
For a good bite of cheese fondue. You’ll love it or hate it. The interior hasn’t changed for the last 40 years (or longer) and they have 4 dishes + 4 salads to choose from. But we love it. The only thing that has changed is the coffee they serve. Just recently they decided to buy a real good espresso machine, so now you do not have to leave the place to have your coffee somewhere else on the square (where you’ll fin loads of café’s, this is the area from where you can stroll into the red light district). A reservation is a must, or ask if you can eat at the bar, or come back late. They don’t have a website. Phonenumber: +31(0)20 6220034. Here you can read some reviews.
www.pont13.nl
Italian/French/Dutch, restaurant on a former ferry, in the docks at the west end of Amsterdam. A very, very special location! And very nice food as well.

www.oostelijkhavengebied.nl
Very much nice info about this neighbourhood.
www.thinkingofholland.com
A souvenir shop, but with very nice souvenirs, made by Dutch designers. From very small gifts to very expensive ones. We also buy our presents here, even for Dutch people! And around the corner is the best terrace in town, from where you have marvellous views over the water. (Starferry restaurant).
www.stoelenwinkel.nl
The shop where they take care of your old chair, and have a very nice collection of old and design chairs.
www.boekhandelvanpampus.nl
Just around the corner, on KNSM laan. A new, but old looking bookshop, an accession for the neighbourhood. They also serve coffee and cakes.
